The Campus Ministry provides an
opportunity for the students, faculty and staff to celebrate
the Risen Lord and live the life of the Gospel. It provides
opportunities to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation
and the Eucharist as well as offering seasonal prayer services,
daily Mass, retreat days for each class and many other opportunities
for prayer and reflection.
Retreat days for underclassmen are
facilitated by a team of seniors under the guidance of the
Director of Campus Ministry and the Ministry team. The senior
retreat days attempt to motivate the participants to consider
integrating Our Lord's call to serve others in their busy
lives. The retreat is followed up by their "Senior Involvement"
experience. The Senior Involvement Program, a graduation requirement,
is a coordinated effort on the part of Xaverian High School
faculty and students to serve the New York community in areas
of the social need. It reflects the sponsorship philosophy
of the Xaverian Brothers who view education in their schools
and faculty are inspired to appreciate the faith in their
lives, to understand community in a global as well as local
sense, and to realize that service to others is basic to the
Gospel message of Jesus.
In addition, Campus Ministry looks
to continually offer a variety of extra-curricular opportunities
for students, faculty, and staff to channel their efforts
to love God, self and one another.
