XCEL
|
The Xaverian Community of Emerging Leaders, (XCEL) is a summer enrichment program that integrates educational, spiritual and leadership development for young men entering the 8th grade. In the tradition of the Xaverian Brothers, we seek to create a community of young men that possess a zeal for education as evidenced by their character, leadership, and commitment to scholastic success.

Admissions
The admissions process begins with the XCEL application. The applicants must also receive one recommendation from their current teacher or school administrator. The educator then shares a review of the student, as well as the young man's most recent report card.

The Program
The goal of XCEL is to educate the whole person. The program calls for educational work in the mornings followed by a variety of recreational activities in the afternoons. Xaverian has a full gymnasium for use all summer. Our location across the street from Shore Road Park allows for outdoor extracurricular activities as well. XCEL integrates its classroom curriculum with hands-on learning experiences. XCEL students will spend one day each week at an off-campus location using New York City as their classroom.

Leadership Retreat Experience
While academic enrichment is a major component of this program, equally important is a focus on the students’ spiritual and leadership development. XCEL students will engage in activities and coursework that encourage the development of their intellect and individuality. The culmination of these efforts will be a one day Leadership Retreat at the end of the XCEL program.
