2023 Season Recap
The Varsity Football Team finished with a 6-4 league record and 3-1 in division play, finishing the season in second place in the CHSFL AA2 division. The team made it to the championship for the first time since 2017 and suffered a tough loss to Mount Saint Michael at Fordham University. The team's success was centered around a strong defense that surrendered just 14 points per game, including two shutouts.
The defense was led by a large number of seniors, including defensive Player of the Year Tommy McMorrow and all-league player Tim Hayes. Other standout seniors on defense included Andrew Owens, Anthony Farina, and Mikey Blackwell. Junior Finbar McGuiness led the team with seven interceptions and was CHSFL player of the week in a playoff victory over Holy Cross. Offensively, the team was led by Junior QB Jude VanOoyen, who had a cast of talented receivers to throw to, including all-league players Spiros Drossos, and Owen Conti. Antonio Hernandez and Christian Donato also helped contribute to the passing attack. Freddy Scuteri was player of the week with over 200 yards rushing against Kennedy Catholic. Two-way standouts included captains Chris Duffy and Matt Ferris. Thomas Regan and Matteo Perrotta helped anchor the offensive line.
