On Monday, June 4, some of our Clippers attended the W!SE 23rd Annual Awards Ceremony, celebrating the work of young people and honoring individuals and organizations striving to improve the quality of life in our communities across the five boroughs. The group, who were all participants in our “Clip the Clippers” event that raised $77,101 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, were on hand to receive the Social Impact Award in honor of the fundraiser held here at Xaverian this past March.
Alyssa Beltran ‘20, who donated her hair to Children With Hair Loss, and James Trusso ‘20, who raised over four thousand dollars for the cause, gave a speech to the audience as they proudly accepted the award on everyone’s behalf. You can check out the speech here.
Over 110 students and faculty members at Xaverian participated in the first annual “Clip the Clippers” event back in March of this year. These Clippers shaved their heads or cut their hair to stand in solidarity with children fighting cancer. Xaverian raised over $77,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital – an organization that leads the way in childhood cancer research and ensures that no family pays a bill while there because they believe that all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
