Philip E. Lian has maintained a professional independent insurance practice for the past twelve years, servicing both commercial and personal insurance requirements of large corporations and individuals, providing both domestic and international insurance and risk management products. Mr. Lian holds and maintains insurance licenses in 10 states for all lines of insurance and employee benefits programs.

Previously, Mr. Lian was Senior Vice President of one of the largest insurance brokerage firms in the world, handling their largest Fortune 50 clients involved in the following industries, manufacturing, oil and gas, finance, accounting, legal services and commercial real estate businesses, for over 20 years.

Mr. Lian’s current activities include service on various nonprofit boards, and he is currently Chairman of the Board of Community Options Enterprises Inc., an organization whose mission is to develop housing and employment for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Mr. Lian is also an officer at science museums in Philadelphia that provide free science education to both adults and middle school children and is a board member of the largest city business club in the United States.

Among his philanthropic accomplishments is that he and his wife Joan were the producers and provided major funding support for the PBS WHYY Special, “Ode To Joy,” a film that celebrates the legacy of William H. Scheide, who was called ‘the man who changed America.’ Mr. Scheide was also the largest donor ever to Princeton University, leaving them a gift valued at over $300 Million.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Lian received his undergraduate degree with majors in economics and finance from Fordham University and is a proud member of the Xaverian’s class of 1966. Mr. Lian lives with his wife, Joan, in Princeton, New Jersey.
