Varsity Football -- October 2nd

Timothy Hayes '24 and Aidan Leary '24
On Sunday, October 2nd, the Clippers faced off against Mount Saint Michael to move themselves up the ranks to a 2-1 record.

The rainy and bone-chilling weather did not keep the fans and fellow Clippers away for this homecoming game. The Clippers were led by senior quarterback Bobby Benoit who was able to connect with Luca Rumberg for a 12-yard touchdown. After a good extra point by kicker Leif Bostwick-Riddell who would go 2-2 on field goals despite windy conditions, the Clippers would enter the half up 7-6. Returning senior Michael Kenny and junior Freddy Scuteri packed a mean one, two punch for the Clippers backfield being responsible for more than 65 percent of the offense.

A Tom Terzulli punt block would lead to a Michael Kenny rushing touchdown to put the Clippers ahead 14-6. The defense held the full Mount offense to just 6 points and 164 yards. Clippers Dylan Markle '23 and Chris Duffy '24 were electric defensively; Markle, the defensive end, had 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss.

It was a great day to be a Clipper as they won 14-6, upsetting Mount and looking to grab another win at St. Peter’s on October 8th at 1:30 pm
