Boys Cross Country -- October 29th

Varsity and Junior Varsity Cross Country won Brooklyn Queens championships!

It was a busy Saturday for the Clippers at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx as they strolled through a BQ win. There were a handful of personal records in one of the most important meets of the season, including Junior Justin Schwartz who ran a 13:31 over 2.5 miles, which moves him into the all-time list in Xaverian Cross Country history, all while being the Brooklyn-Queens individual champion.

The Varsity Clippers outscored Archbishop Molloy by nine points securing the BQ championship win. The Varsity Clippers also managed to come in second place in the whole city, finishing after Xavier and outscoring last year's city champions Fordham Prep by 7 points to win second place. Runners on varsity, including junior Aidan Traynor, senior Marco Sanducci, junior Phil Hamdan and junior Leopold Chang-Hermann, all ran a personal record for themselves.

The Junior Varsity Team also came away with a win, with Kareem Najjar making his JV captain debut, coming in at second place individually in Brooklyn Queens, all while running a PR. Six Clippers came in the top 10 in the JV BQ race, including senior Kareem Najjar, sophomore Marcello Graffeo, junior Ricardo Torres, senior Jordan Mercado, sophomore Jack Curley, and sophomore Cyril Porter.

A big shoutout goes to Clipper freshmen Giacomo Melisi and Sullivan Petrillo, who both ran their best times of the year and went home with some hardware. The Clippers travel back to the Bronx in the next two weeks for Sophomore Intersectional Championships next week, and in two weeks, the Varsity Clippers for Varsity Intersectional championships.
