Varsity Boys Basketball - December 20th

James Schmidt '23
The Varsity Boys Basketball team won 74-55 over Iona Prep on Tuesday.

Both teams had similar starts to the game, as the score remained tied 34-34 by the end of the first half. However, the Varsity Clippers were able to break off for a double-digit lead in the 3rd quarter due to a repeated cycle of defensive stops and scoring opportunities, and they never looked back after that.

Xaverian also did a great job of staying out of foul trouble, only committing a handful of them throughout the entire game and going stretches of 5+ minutes without fouling at all. Aaron Goldstein led the team with 25 points, while Nasir Muhammad followed up closely with 23. Michael Walker played a key defensive role with a team-high 11 rebounds and numerous blocks that held off Iona Prep. Overall, the team was able to put all the pieces together in this matchup and showed their potential when everyone is working together.

The Clippers will look to continue their win streak when they travel to Florida next week for the Sun Bash Tournament.
