The JV Softball Team split in a doubleheader on Sunday with the Gators.
The Clippers fought back every inning in the first game. In this nail-biting game, Xaverian's offense held the team together. Madison Pender went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs. Dana Leahy went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Catcher Ava Kosta also had 2 RBIs.
In the bottom of the 7th, with a tie game, the Gators defeated the Clippers with a final score of 15-14.
For the second game, game-winning pitcher Freshman Rylee Thompson completely shut down Notre Dame Academy. Thompson stepped on the mound with a vengeance letting no runs score and no walked batters. Freshman Stephanie Dowd’s bat was on fire, with 4 RBIs. Sophomore Kiera Lawler went 3 for 3, also leading the team's offense with 2 RBIs. The Clippers had a total of 12 hits, and the team's defense had no errors, ending the game with a big comeback win for Xaverian 14-0.
The girls will play Fontbonne Monday, at Dyker Park at 4:30 PM. GO, CLIPPERS!
