Back to School FAQ!

List of 23 frequently asked questions.

  • How do I register for bus service? When does the late bus run?

The bus registration form will remain active until Thursday, August 29th at 12 noon.  To register for the bus after that, please email Mr. Eddie Mayrose '79 at emayrose@xaverian.org  to see if you can still be accommodated.

Those students that have already registered will be contacted by DeVille Bus Company over the course of the Labor Day weekend. The first day of bus service is Friday, September 6th.  If a call has not been received from DeVille by Monday, September 2ndplease email Mr. Mayrose.

    REMEMBER:
-There will be no service on Wed, Sept 4th or Thursday, September 5th
    - Routes are created each year in order to best serve all of our students.  For this reason, pickup times may change from year to year.  Please make the necessary adjustments.

    LATE BUS SERVICE:
Will begin on Monday, September 10th. It is important that you save this email so that you may access the procedure when necessary. Late buses will leave Xaverian from the security door on 71st Street at 5 PM, always preceded by an announcement to remind the students in the building.  Buses transport students to the Rockaways and Staten Island, making two stops at each location. We make this accommodation to just these two areas, as they are toll zones with no subway access.

     PLEASE NOTE:
    - As the late buses are provided by Xaverian and are not part of your contract, they run on an as-needed basis.  Students must register EACH DAY THAT THEY WILL BE USING THE BUS, as the bus will not be ordered if there are no riders.  There must be at least two students on board for the bus to run.

-To register, students must see Mr. Daly in his office at the front of the cafeteria BEFORE NOON. Mr. Daly is there from 7:30 AM each day. (If your child is a new student, please advise him or her to ask a faculty member where the office is located.)

    Two CRITICAL notes to remember:
-Students that fail to register for the bus are still welcome to ride, as long as one is running and there is room for ALL unregistered students.  EX:  If there are six students that did not register, and just four seats are open, ALL six students will be turned away.

-Not all activities end in time for those students participating to use the bus.  Please consult with your child's coach or moderator.

    ROCKAWAY BUS:
Stops at Beach 169th Street by Fort Tilden.  If there are Howard Beach students riding, the bus will make an additional stop at Beach 116th Street.  In addition, this bus can accommodate students from Flatbush, Canarsie and Mill Basin with a stop in the vacant parking lot of the old Toys R Us on Flatbush Avenue. (The latter two stops will only be made at students' request.)

    STATEN ISLAND BUS:
Stops on the corner of Fingerboard Road and Narrows Road South (at the top of the toll plaza ramp) to accommodate North Shore students, then continues to Old Town Road and Hylan Boulevard to accommodate South Shore students.
