Brianna Tang '26

Brianna Tang is a member of Xaverian’s Select Band, Jazz Band, and Band Concert and studying under Mr. Joseph Loposky. Since she was small, she has shown a love of music and talent for playing the saxophone. A resident of Staten Island, Briana has, since the third grade, performed in multiple Staten Island community engagements including the Staten Island Salute to Music Borough Wide Band, Summer Band, Sounds like Summer at PAULO Concert Series, Staten Island Summer Chamber Music Program and multiple sports, charity, school, and senior centers. She has performed for Memorial Performance for the State Senator, Memorial Run Police Officer Christopher Hoban’s 80 Memorial Run, and Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City with Xaverian’s Select Band.
 
Currently attending The Juilliard School’s MAP Program as a saxophone major, Brianna plays the alto, tenor, and soprano saxophone as well as piano. She is also a member of Juilliard’s wind ensemble, Juilliard Preparatory Division Chorus, and saxophone studio. She has performed at several annual performances at Lincoln Center, Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Paul Recital Hall, Morse Hall, The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, and Abyssinian Baptist Church to name a few. Juilliard’s Preparatory Division Chorus recently performed at David Geffen Hall GALA together with the New York Philharmonic which featured a star-studded lineup including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Renée Fleming, and Brian Stokes Mitchell. 
 
As a member of the New York Pop’s Kids on Stage Program, Brianna played in many concerts with professional orchestras such as the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, featuring artists such as Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel. From this performance, Brianna was the only saxophonist selected for the 2022 New York Pops 39th Anniversary season at Carnegie Hall.
 
 Brianna has taken part in competitions from local to international performances and has placed first in The American Protégé International Music Talent Competition, Music International Grand Prix 2021 Competition, Grand Prize in Little Mozart’s International Youth Music Competition,  International Music & Arts Society 8th Annual Talented young Musician Olympia Competition. On the international stage, she has also accumulated first place in Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, "London” Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition and was invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall London. She also won first place in Virtuoso International Music Competition, New York Young Virtuoso Competition, Crescendo International Youth Competition, VIVO International Music Competition, The New York Virtuoso International Competition, NY State Assembly Award, Kings Peak International Music Competition among others. She has won many scholarships. Many of her solo performances were held at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
 
Furthermore, Brianna’s performances have taken her to all corners of the world.  She recently won First Place at the Tokyo International Youth Music Competition and the North American Virtuoso International Music Competition. As a finalist for the 2023 Honors Performance Series by WorldStrides, she has been invited to perform at the Sydney Opera House next summer.
