Xaverian, a 6-12 private Catholic school within the network of the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools (XBSS), located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY, is seeking qualified, passionate, and creative teachers who are excited to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and staff in carrying out the Catholic mission of the school in a 21st Century teaching and learning environment. The candidate will also meet the following criteria.

General Responsibilities and Qualifications

Support the Catholic mission and philosophy of the Xaverian Brothers.
Respect all school policies while supporting the school’s spiritual and educational mission.
Motivate students in a positive and engaging classroom environment.
Exhibit competency and a solid knowledge base in the subject area.
Deliver dynamic, engaging, and challenging curriculum to middle and high school students.
Embrace innovation, creativity, and a repertoire of teaching styles.
Differentiate instruction to meet the students’ diverse learning needs.
Design lessons and assessments that align with student learning profiles.
Leverage the use of instructional technologies in a 1:1 tablet computing environment.
Perform assigned supervisory/prefecting duties.
Possess strong writing and communication skills.

Business Teacher
The candidate must have
- earned at least an undergraduate degree in business management, finance, or an acceptable equivalent;
- flexibility in teaching courses in Business Organization, AP Microeconomics, Investing, and Accounting.
English Teacher
The candidate must have
- earned at least an undergraduate degree in English or an acceptable equivalent;
- strong writing skills and a foundation for teaching writing;
- flexibility in teaching courses in middle school and high school English, including the possibility of teaching Advanced Placement English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition
Italian Teacher
The candidate must have
- earned at least an undergraduate degree in Italian or an acceptable language equivalent;
- flexibility in teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced Italian courses offered on the middle and high school levels
Religion Teacher
The candidate must have
- earned at least an undergraduate degree in theology;
- flexibility in teaching courses in middle school Catholic Scripture and Catholic Social Justice and in high school Introduction to Catholicism, Catholic Scripture, and Catholic Morality and Social Justice.
Social Studies Teacher
The candidate must have
- earned at least an undergraduate degree in social studies or a history equivalent;
- familiarity with the New York State Regents Curriculum;
- flexibility in teaching courses in middle school and high school Global History and United States History, including the possibility of teaching Advanced Placement courses World History, United History, European History, and Comparative Government.
Spanish Teacher
The candidate must have
- earned at least an undergraduate degree in Spanish or an acceptable language equivalent;
- flexibility in teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced Spanish courses offered on the middle and high school levels
