Coach Romero has always had a true passion and love for dance, falling in love with it when she was six years old. She participated in competitive dance for as long as she can remember. After dancing for several years in various dance studios around Bay Ridge, Brooklyn when she was a kid, she geared towards cheerleading in high school. This still focused on school spirit and the fundamentals of dance.
Romero has been working at Xaverian for the past five years. She worked with the JV cheerleaders and Genesis cheerleading team throughout her time here. However, dance has always had a special place in her heart. Several students approached her to create a Dance Club last year. While doing this for a year, Romero knew that this could be big! Creating a sense of unity, pride, and school spirit while expressing that through dance was something she wanted to pursue at Xaverian.
Working alongside the students at Xaverian, Romero created the first-ever competitive dance team at Xaverian in 2022! With now 27 dancers, this will be their first season. They will hopefully compete in several competitions throughout the year, including UDA, True Talent, and Starpower throughout the tri-state area. They will continue to give back to their community by participating in local fundraising.
Coach Romero is eager to learn and continue to grow to develop the best dance program she can here at Xaverian.
