"This year, I tried something new and joined the Genesis Cheerleading Team. And I love it! Being a cheerleader is a big commitment as I must balance it with schoolwork and family. However, meeting new friends, practicing routines with my teammates, taking part in bake sales and events like the Hoban Run and Strides Against Breast Cancer walk make it so enjoyable. Something I would recommend for anyone who is interested in cheerleading is to attend the clinics, practice the routines, and stretch every night!" - Sophia Candella '28

"It was not until I came to Genesis that I played an instrument, and I am so glad that I became a part of Music at Xaverian! This year, I began playing the snare drum in the percussion section of the band. My teachers — Mr. Pasipanki and Mr. Randazzo — have kept me practicing and having fun, while furthering my ability to play music and work as an integral part of the larger band. During this last year, I have discovered a new appreciation for music that I don’t know if I would’ve gotten anywhere else." -Emmett Gleeson ’27

"My favorite class in Genesis is Literature as I enjoy the books we read and the group projects that we do along with them. When reading Hatchet this year, we were tasked with making a shelter out of limited materials for the main character in the woods that would keep him alive through the harsh weather and threat of animals. It was an interesting way of thinking about the character’s conflict!" -Annie Baez '26

“As a Catholic, I practice my faith in many different ways -- at home, church, and school. Genesis has helped me strengthen my faith by providing me with teachers who care about their faith and ours and who show us different ways to practice it. Whether it is praying at the start of every religion class, saying the Angelus every day at noon, or attending regular prayer services and masses, Genesis allows me to keep in touch with God and motivates me to pray often.” -Salvatore Nicchitta ’27
