Xaverian, a 6-12 private Catholic school within the network of the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools (XBSS), located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY, is seeking qualified, passionate, and creative teachers who are excited to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and staff in carrying out the Catholic mission of the school in a 21st Century teaching and learning environment.

  • Chemistry Teacher

    Xaverian is seeking a chemistry teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.

    Candidates must have earned at least an undergraduate degree in chemistry, chemistry education, or an acceptable equivalent, with the expectation of completing a graduate degree within five years. A Master’s Degree is strongly preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience and degree status. State certification, certification in General Special Education, or Chemistry (Students with Disabilities Grades 9-12) is a plus.
     
    Candidates must be familiar with the New York State Chemistry Regents Curriculum and the Next Generation Science Standards; the candidate must be comfortable teaching courses in chemistry, including the chemistry lab component, with the possibility of teaching Advanced Placement Chemistry and Introduction to Pharmacology.

  • Computer Science Teacher

    Xaverian is seeking a computer science teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.

    Candidates must have earned at least an undergraduate degree in computer science or an acceptable equivalent, with the expectation of completing a graduate degree within five years. A Master’s Degree is strongly preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience and degree status. State certification or certification in General Special Education is a plus.
     
    Aligned to the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum and Advanced Placement, the candidate must be comfortable teaching courses in Computer Science Essentials, Computer Science Principles, Computer Science A, Web Design and Development, and Cybersecurity.

  • Engineering Teacher

    Xaverian is seeking an engineering teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.

    Candidates must have earned at least an undergraduate degree in engineering or an acceptable equivalent, with the expectation of completing a graduate degree within five years. A Master’s Degree is strongly preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience and degree status. State certification or certification in General Special Education is a plus.
     
    Aligned to the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum, the candidate must be comfortable teaching courses in design and modeling, principles of engineering, introduction to engineering, aerospace engineering, and/or engineering design and development.

  • School Counselor and College Counselor

    Xaverian is seeking a school counselor and college counselor for the 2023-2024 school year.

    School Counselor
    A school counselor collaborates with the administration, faculty, and parents to provide our students with a cohesive support system. The counselor is responsible for an assigned caseload of students with a focus on academic progress, social-emotional development, behavioral growth, and future/career planning. A counselor works with students through private meetings and in group sessions/mentor groups. Responsibilities include:
    • Advising and providing information to parents/guardians and teachers
    • Writing recommendations on behalf of students
    • Reviewing the records of students to check their progress in meeting graduation requirements.
    • Acting as the contact person for parents/guardians
    • Approving a student’s schedule in appropriate classes in coordination with parents, teachers, and administration.
    • Keeping up-to-date with current practices in the field of guidance and counseling through attendance at professional conferences/workshops.  
    • Performing other duties prescribed by the administration (test proctoring, substitutions, etc.)
    • Responding effectively to crises affecting students and faculty
    • Providing mental health and behavioral counseling to students
    College counseling experience, including knowledge of the college application process, use of application programs (Naviance, SEND, etc.), working with students to develop an academically appropriate list of colleges, leading groups for Junior and Senior students and parents to guide them through the application process, is a plus. 

    College Counselor
    A college counselor collaborates with the administration, faculty, and parents to provide our students with a cohesive support system. The counselor is responsible for an assigned caseload of students.  The college counselor works with students through private meetings and in group sessions, supporting students as a whole and assisting them through the entire individualized application process. Responsibilities include: 
    • Working closely with juniors and seniors to guide them through the application process
    • Hosting information sessions for students and parents
    • Consulting with students to develop an academically appropriate list of colleges
    • Possessing knowledge of college requirements regarding test scores and GPAs
    • Using Naviance, Send, Parchment, and other college application sites
    • Aiding students with selecting recommenders, reviewing college essays, supplementals, scholarship applications, etc.
    • Performing other duties prescribed by the administration (test proctoring, substitutions, etc.)
