Michael J. Kawas '77

Michael J. Kawas recently retired from his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation, a non-profit human tissue transplant organization. In his role over his 38 years with the company, he oversaw the financial, treasury, information technology, human resources, regulatory, quality management, facilities, and contract management groups. In addition, the company’s German subsidiary reported to him, and he was the general manager of the company’s startup Plastic and Reconstructive division.
Michael began his career in public accounting with Pannell, Kerr Forster (now PKF O’Connor Davies) and later Arthur Young & Co. (now Ernst & Young). He moved into the public sector working for Reliance Group Holdings, Inc. where he was involved in financial reporting and mergers and acquisitions before settling into his long tenure at the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation, Michael is a proud graduate of Xaverian High School (Class of 1977). He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pace University (1981) and received his Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University (2000). Michael is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York and New Jersey and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York and New Jersey Societies of Certified Public Accountants. Michael resides in Freehold Township, NJ.
