Now in his third year coaching JV softball at Xaverian and loving it, Coach Thaten brings a strong background from coaching girls' fastpitch softball dating back to 2006 and working with players at levels ranging from All Stars in Little League to 18U players in the college recruitment process.
He has taken teams to high-level competitions and college showcases in Colorado, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, and New England. Along the way, he has focused on developing, enhancing, and reinforcing the core fundamentals and mindset needed to prepare young athletes to succeed at the college level.
His love for sports extends beyond coaching softball. He's been a longtime baseball and softball umpire, as well as a high school football and flag football official for the PSAL Football Officials Association (PSAL-FOA), USABL, and Varsity USA Softball. He also volunteers as a Manager for the Staten Island Saints Fastpitch travel team.
With his Xaverian JV softball team, he continues to promote his coaching philosophies: "Pride, Passion, Persevere! The only way to play the game!" and "Nothing Happens by accident."
