Varsity Girls Basketball - November 23rd

James Schmidt '23
The Girls Varsity Basketball Team beat Lincoln High School 82-12 on Wednesday during the Thanksgiving Eve doubleheader.

The Girls Varsity Clippers opened their season by winning in dominant fashion, showing signs of improvement from last year. The ball was spread around to everyone as Xaverian took a massive lead during the first quarter and never looked back after that. Laila Sierra, Callie Mullin, Kara Wehner, and Alexandra Carbonaro led the Clipper offensive attack, with all four reaching double digits in points. The varsity girls played a solid defensive scheme designed by Coach Mark Spelman, tallying numerous pass deflections, blocked shots, and steals to hold Lincoln to an extremely low point total. Overall, there wasn’t anything to complain about with how the Clippers played tonight.

The Girls Varsity Team will look to get another win in their first road game against St. Joseph by the Sea on Monday, November 28th.
