The “Final 71 at 7100” – the annual celebration of Xaverian’s seniors – began the 71-day countdown to their last day of class. February 15th’s event was filled with t-shirts, activities, music, and life-long memories!

The day was the first in a series of events that the school put on to show the importance of the senior class. These events start in February and continue until graduation day. This includes the last day of classes, prom, award ceremonies, athletic signing ceremonies, and many more.

This day, in particular, began with the seniors gathered and welcomed in the gymnasium, which was decorated with balloons. A picture was taken of the class in its entirety, ordinarily to go side by side with the picture taken at freshman orientation. This class, however, did not have a freshman orientation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so their class picture will stand alone.

“It’s a great day for the teachers and all the seniors,” said Mr. Brian McCartney ‘04, Athletic Director. “I get really excited and try to make sure that everyone counts the last 71 they have at Xaverian.”

The day commenced with fun music. A photo booth was in place for friends to take pictures together in the gym hallways, and games were scattered throughout the gymnasium. Such games included table tennis, cornhole, and barrel tossing. It is also perhaps not entirely subjective to note that tug-of-war games were a highlight of the day. These games went on for almost the entire afternoon, with many different teams, participants, and victors.

“It’s a great tradition that I’m glad we can have. The whole class rarely ever gets together for one thing, so seeing everyone in one setting is awesome,” said Matthew Ferris ’24. “The tug-of-war was pretty fun, and playing my teachers in corn hole was very competitive!”

“The Final 71 at 7100” holds a really unique place in Xaverian students' hearts as it is a day dedicated to them.
