It's a Clipper Weekend!

This past weekend was filled with all things Clipper!
This past weekend was filled with all things Clipper!

Friday night saw our first Football home game at our new field, which was also our Breast Cancer Awareness game. Our Clippers honored Lilia Lim, grandmother of Alyssa Beltran ’20 and Maureen Larkin-Phelan, mother of Grace and Molly DeSena, both class of 2021. On the field  The Clippers dominated throughout  to a 48-nothing rout of Kennedy Catholic.  Roberto Auguste ran for a pair of touchdowns plus a two-point conversion.  The star back also had an interception.  Manny Olagunju scored twice, once on a 72 yard gallop; while James Resker tossed a  T-D pass to Tim McCabe. On defense, Isiah Amazon scored on a fumble forced by Phil Iacona  and Joe Randazzo had 11 tackles.Saturday brought about our annual MAX Car Wash, where our young musicians cleaned neighborhood cars in order to raise money for the needs of the music program. Sunday was the 29th Annual P.O. Christopher Hoban ’80 Memorial Run, which drew over 600 runners across the borough, with each entry helping to support the Xaverian scholarships given to the sons and daughters of the NYPD. Special Kudos to the Boys’ Basketball team and Pipin’s Pub which won the first ever Hoban Cup in the 5K and 5 Mile, respectively. Additional kudos to senior Mike Vazquez who again was the fastest Clipper of the day, and came in 5th place in the whole race!
If you thought that was enough for one weekend...The Speech and Debate team competed this weekend at Yale University to kick off the season. Overall, the clippers had eight students ranked in the top 50 in the country to begin the year. They were led by Adney Silva who placed fourth and the team of Anthony Cerulli and Rob Milano who were 6th. Other top 50 finishers included Michael Scott Greco, Joseph Wisadagama, Louis Savoia, Tim Mayrose, and Barron Wei.
One weekend, so many Clipper moments!
