Xaverian Seniors Engage in Service Retreat Focused on Compassion and Community

The Xaverian senior class recently participated in a service retreat in Camden, designed to deepen students’ understanding of compassion, humility, and community engagement. Hosted by the Romero Center Ministries, the retreat encouraged students to reflect on the broader meaning of service while supporting organizations that address food insecurity, education, and elder care.

Throughout the weekend, students took part in a variety of service activities, including assisting at a neighborhood center, supporting meal programs, and spending time with residents at a nursing and rehabilitation facility. These experiences exposed students to the realities faced by many individuals in the Camden community and highlighted the importance of empathy, teamwork, and responsible leadership.

In addition to their service work, seniors participated in guided reflections aimed at helping them consider the impact of their efforts and the values that motivate them to serve. The retreat emphasized Xaverian’s core principles, encouraging students to lead with compassion, serve with humility, and approach each experience with openness and purpose.

By the conclusion of the retreat, students returned to Xaverian with a strengthened appreciation for community service and a deeper commitment to living out the school’s mission in meaningful and thoughtful ways.
