Varsity Boys Tennis - May 31st

James Schmidt '23
The Varsity Boys' Tennis Team won their semifinal playoff match against Salesian 4-1.

The Clippers finished the regular season as the first seed after completing an undefeated campaign, and they carried that momentum into the playoffs by cruising past the rival Salesian team that they played in the finals last year. James Schmidt battled through a difficult second set under the scorching heat to win his second singles matchup 6-0, 6-4. Robert Krute secured an easy victory in third singles 6-0, 6-1. Similarly easy wins by the first doubles team of John Paskowski and George Robokos, along with the second doubles team of Giovanni DeSantis and Bartosz Foremny, wrapped up the match. Overall, the Varsity Clippers played exactly how they did during the regular season, and it paid off.

After today’s win, Xaverian now advances to the CHSAA City Championship against Monsignor McClancy on Monday, June 5th at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens. The match will start around 3:45. Come out and support your fellow Clippers!
