Thursday, October 19th was the Soccer Program’s Senior Night, with both the girls and the boys' teams playing at home at Aviator – the Varsity Boys Team played against Monsignor McClancy, while the Varsity Girls Team played against Notre Dame School.

The girls have had an undefeated season with seven straight wins and one tie. On this night, they came out victorious once again, winning 3-0 with goals from seniors Tess May and Kyra Sienkiewicz.

As part of the Senior Night celebrations, each senior received a poster of themselves, goody bags, personalized numbers decorated with photographs, customized posters, flowers, and fat heads. Balloon numbers lined the field, honoring the senior girls. Their younger teammates also decorated the locker room with a fog machine, LED lights, and music.

Meanwhile, the boys, who are placed fourth overall and faced the third-place team, won their game, 2-0, led by senior captains Jack Barnett and Anthony Benvenuto.

Coach Penta said, “It’s always sad when the seniors leave, but I’m excited for the new players to join our team.”

Parents cooked wings and pizza for the players and joined them on the field during halftime for a small ceremony and photo op. Every senior player on the team received a framed photo and goody bags.

Yasvet Sharma ‘24 said, “Our senior night really showed the great community at Xaverian. I’m really sad I won’t be a part of it next year.”

The seniors will be missed, and they’re sure to remember their time playing Xaverian soccer fondly.
