On May 14th, 2026, Mr. Joseph Loposky P’05 ’16 received the Spirit of Xaverian Award at the Spirit of Xaverian Gala in honor of his impact and influence on the school community within the MAX program. This celebration of Loposky’s 32 years of working at Xaverian is a reminder of how his music program is still prominent in his students' lives, represented through the numerous Alumni in attendance.
At 6:00 PM, the night started with a combination of Cocktail Hour and Xaverian’s Jazz Combo band, demonstrating the communal effort to support Loposky. This event took place at The Liberty Warehouse, requiring formal wear and a poised environment. When the guests arrived, the Pipe and Drum group was playing at the entrance, but the vibrant music was just beginning. The most thoughtful surprise performance awaited inside, composed of Alumni who performed a Jazz Combo.

“No matter how much people say he’s [positively] impacted them in their lives, I don't think that could ever be quantified,” said Mr. Michael Pasipanki ’10.

Pasipanki is a Xaverian alumnus and one of Loposky’s students, stating that his impact was immeasurable. He believes that Loposky’s teaching, filled with passion and a hard work ethic, is prominent within his own teaching approach. Furthermore, the Award Ceremony had a series of speeches, both from Mr. Robert Alesi ’78 and Mr. Loposky, as well as a tribute video to Loposky. Despite Loposky’s serious attitude, at that moment, he felt honored and immensely grateful.

Not only did Alumni participate, but Xaverian students showed support as well. Clippers connected their musical talent to their appreciation for Loposky. For example, Xaverian’s Pipe and Drum group, plus the seniors in Xaverian Chorus, commemorated him through their performances. Although Loposky sets high standards for his students, he prepares them for professional musicianship. From only 23 kids to over 800 and 28 musical groups, Loposky is well deserving of this award. His efforts extend beyond Xaverian grounds, using the MAX program to do local or international performances.

Other participants received awards alongside Loposky, such as Nicholas Truncellito ’68 and William McNeely ’84 P’21, who received the Bernard McQuillan Distinguished Alumni Award. This award is presented to those exhibiting qualities of passion and zeal within their career. All awards were given to those who represent Xaverian's values at 7100 Shore Road, showing dedication in both professional and communal settings.
