MAX in Japan

On March 30th the Xaverian Music program at Xaverian left for our 8th tour of Japan. 73 students in three different groups, The Jazz, Band, The Chorus and the Rock Band attended the exchange. They were invited to perform at the Inuyama City Sakura Masturi, Cherry Blossom Festival. This festival is one of the longest running festivals in the world, approximately 300 years. It is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage event. It features 13 massive, three-story floats paraded through cherry blossoms near Inuyama Castle, culminating in a night-time procession with 365 lanterns per float. The students performed 4 times culminating in a final performance just for the families that hosted them. It was a trip that the students will remember for the rest of their lives.
