On Saturday, Nov. 15, Genesis opened its doors to give students and their families a sneak peek of the next three years at the annual Genesis Open House.
This event gave visitors the chance to experience what Genesis is really all about by getting to meet some students, teachers, and seeing some clubs they offer in Genesis.
The day started off with some of our seven-year Clippers greeting the families and students as they entered the building for the first time. Downstairs in the gym, some of our Genesis clubs and clinics were waiting to share their fun experiences. Soon, the families realized that not many people actually leave the building at 2:30.
After the students and their families got to see some of the fun activities that you could participate in after school, they were escorted to the auditorium. The Genesis chorus started off, welcoming the families with some nice songs. Then Mr. Loposky talked about the music program at Genesis and gave the families a little more information about what to expect from the music department. Afterwards, students and their families got to sit and watch a video of some of the exciting parts of Genesis. Then, Molly (last name) ’31 led our morning prayer. Mr. Alesi ’78 and Mr. Sharib ’96 gave brief speeches about life here at Genesis. After, the students and their families got to see some of the fun aspects of Genesis by watching a skit about Genesis Jeopardy. Lastly, Mrs. McCartney spoke about what it really means to be a part of Genesis.
Once Mrs. McCartney finished, the students and their families were escorted out of the auditorium and into the Genesis wing. They got a chance to look at the Genesis student commons, and then they were escorted into a room where they got to speak to some Genesis students and a seven-year Clipper. In the rooms, the Genesis kids talked about what Genesis is like, fun activities they have experienced, the structure of classes, and their favorite lessons they have learned so far. Our seven-year Clippers talked about how the transition was to high school, some advanced courses they were able to take, and how they liked Genesis. Afterwards, students and their families were able to ask any questions they had about the school so far.
Finally, students and their families were escorted to the cafeteria, where they were able to have a snack and ask any further questions they had. Genesis students, Ms. Cruz, Mr. Loposky, Clipper parents, and many other people were there to answer all the questions. This was truly an extraordinary event, and we can’t wait to see some new Clippers next fall!
