Open House: A Clipper Welcome to Xaverian

Aydiana Vasquez ’28 and Siena Laurino ’28
Sunday, Oct. 19, Xaverian opened its doors to prospective students and families for its annual Open House, offering a first-hand look at the vibrant community and opportunities that define life as a Clipper.

The event gave visitors a chance to explore the campus, meet faculty members, and learn about the many academic and extracurricular programs that make Xaverian unique. From sports teams to student-run clubs, each department showcased its pride through engaging displays and interactive presentations.

The day began with an energetic welcome as the Step Team and the Pipe and Drums Corps filled the front entrance with music and excitement. Inside the gymnasium, rows of athletic teams stood ready to share their experiences, displaying uniforms, trophies, and other symbols of their success. Visitors eagerly signed up to learn more about joining Xaverian’s athletic programs, drawn in by the players’ enthusiasm and sense of teamwork.

In the auditorium, MAX set the tone with a rousing performance of New York, New York by Frank Sinatra. Members of Xaverian Dramatics then took the stage, presenting a creative showcase that celebrated the achievements of student performers and scholars. Principal Daniel Sharib ’96 followed with an inspiring address, encouraging guests to take full advantage of the opportunities available through Xaverian’s diverse electives and student organizations.

Throughout both the Xaverian and Genesis hallways, faculty and students hosted informative booths highlighting the school’s clubs, academic departments, and community initiatives. With posters, videos, and live demonstrations, student leaders enthusiastically shared how their clubs contribute to school spirit and service.

The event concluded with remarks from Assistant Principal of Academics Mr. Mark Spelman ’92, who emphasized what sets Xaverian apart: its strong sense of unity, tradition, and opportunity.

Like a ship guided by its crew, Xaverian continues to chart a course defined by discovery and growth. This year’s Open House not only welcomed potential new students but also reminded all in attendance what it truly means to be a Clipper.
